As you know, none of us know the end from the beginning. We are all traveling through life blindsided while understanding most things in hindsight. Nobody has the the full picture, so we never know which path is right. In the spur of moments, we make choices and end up with decisions that lead us down a detour. Sometimes we trust our guts; we pray and hope that someone above guides us… but many times, we get to the end of the road and we realize it was the wrong choice.
The Detour
It hurts to know that all that led us here was just one decision…
a choice we made… a wrong one.
Many things happen in-between as a result of that one choice… things we can’t change, forget or undo… and we beat ourselves up for the mistakes made. But we didn’t know better, I mean, how could we have known? We don’t have the blueprint. All we had was what we felt at the moment and our gut feeling. We prayed, we misheard… not all ears are well trained for cryptic messages.
So what now?… What do we do with this mess? We made a mistake; we took the wrong turn and now we are on a detour.
I can imagine that you feel hopeless, frustrated and angry… at yourself, the world and maybe God.
It may feel like a crossroads, and you wonder if you should turn back, take a reckless ‘turn’ or keep going forward…
You can’t turn back the hands of time, so going back isn’t an option… you may never forget the mistake, you can only choose to heal and forgive yourself… taking a reckless ‘turn’ and making even more mistakes won’t ease the pain you already feel…. it will only compound it. All you need to do now is to be still.
Exodus 14:14 The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.

The one thing about a detour, is that it eventually leads you home… it will take a longer time but if you hold on, taking each day as it comes, you will wake up one morning and realize you’re home.
Home is a place of peace concerning any aspect of your life.

In hindsight
Today, I woke up realizing my detour eventually led me home. It wasn’t a straightforward journey to get here, but the peace I feel today is worth it.
There are other aspects of my life which I search for the way to go, aspects that give me sleepless nights and a heavy heart, but I know now (more than I ever did), that if I could find a way home on one situation, I will probably find my way home on every other. All in due time by the grace of God.
So, whatever troubles you, trust that you will eventually get to the home you’ve always prayed and hoped for concerning that situation.
It is my deepest desire that you find strength within yourself to keep pushing every day with hope in your heart and faith that you will eventually get home.
… and I hope that in your darkest hours you find a light to guide you… home.
All my love,
E

Life is a journey we learn from

The best strategists are often underprepared, figuring out is always in the mix. Life presents a journey where detours are the recipe for growth.
Embrace the detours- this is how we get Home.
Thanks for this piece. Good read.

Very well said E! Sometimes detours were part of the plan all along for there were things we could never learn otherwise, and thereby, teach/help others when we see them going through the same thing, if we didn’t go through the same experience ourselves.
Every turn/choice we will ever make has already been accounted for and has the requisite road turns to lead us right back home, no matter how far away we think we are 😊
